Project:      Nittany Parking Expansion – The Pennsylvania State University

             The original six level Nittany Parking Deck was first constructed by Newcrete in 1992.  Due to the University’s ever growing need for more parking on campus, an 180,000 square feet, six level addition adjacent to the existing parking deck was proposed by the University and subsequently constructed be Newcrete in the summer of 2002.

             Civilsmith Engineering, Inc. assisted Newcrete on this project by providing the structural design, stability analysis, and member detailing.  The exterior spandrel panels include an intricate reveal pattern that was designed to simulate hand laid limestone as well as attachment of a brick veneer in designated areas.  The precast concrete stair tower and elevator shaft were designed and detailed to include cantilevered floor slabs, balcony panels, and brick veneer attachments to complete the architectural image.
